Fins & Feathers Guide Service

We opened our doors as a Bozeman fly-shop and fly-fishing guide service back in late 2000. We sold the fly shop (the formerly Chartreuse building at 4-Corners) in late 2022 to our friends at Yellow Dog Fly Fishing. Our Bozeman fly-fishing guide service continues to operate as a separate entity with the same great staff of professional guides and ownership. We are among the longest, continuously operating fly-fishing guide services in Montana.

The Missouri River Spring Special

We have been fly-fishing and guiding on the Missouri River, near Craig, Montana for over two decades! This world class fishery has become our "go to" choice for our Montana fly-fishing guides service during the runoff season in the Bozeman area which usually starts in early May and lasts until early June. The Missouri River section below Holter Dam fishes incredibly well during this time of year and remains "fishable" even in the highest water conditions.

Our Missouri River season will start on April 24 and runs through May 28 in 2023. We prioritize weekday bookings during this time of year to minimize our time on the water with peak seasonal crowds around the weekends. The emphasis during this time of year is usually on finding good numbers of wild trout with an average size in the 16-18" range using a variety of techniques. Reservations and availability can be confirmed online or through email as well.

Spring on the Madison River

One of our favorite times of year to guide fly-fishing trips on the upper Madison River is in March and April every spring. Great opportunities to find solitude and wading opportunities from the drift boat can be found most days during this time of the year. Join us for a day or more to experience a side of the Madison River that most anglers never see.
