Our “2023 Spring on the Missouri” wrapped up over Memorial Day Weekend with a couple days of heavy rains and erratic river flows. However, we still managed to find plenty of fish while escaping the holiday weekend crowds that flocked to the river from around the state.
The river is now in BIG mode with flows scheduled to hit near 15K out of Holter Dam in the coming days. There are a handful of “High Water Honey Holes” for these conditions, but thankfully we are back in Bozeman and the rivers here, like the Madison, are clearing and dropping quickly!
We will be back on the Missouri River in late April 2024 so please put it on you radar now to ensure prime availability. In general, we try to fish Monday through Fridays between late April and the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend. The fishing is almost always fantastic that time of the year and our 30+ years of fly-fishing experience on the Missouri River enables us to fish part of the river that see less angling pressure than others, that time of the year.
