Yellowstone River Guided Fly Fishing Trips

The Yellowstone River, the longest free-flowing river in the lower 48, offers one of the most dynamic fly fishing experiences in Montana. From the upper river sections near Yellowstone National Park to the expansive valleys east of Livingston, the river delivers a true Montana fly fishing experience—diverse character, reliable hatches, and wild trout.

Yellowstone River Fly Fishing Trips

At Fins and Feathers Guide Service, we’ve been outfitting Montana fly fishing trips on the Yellowstone River for over two decades. Our guide team is made up of professionals with a deep understanding of this river’s nuances, and the experience to tailor every day on the water to match the expectations of our guests.

Day Trip Options on the Yellowstone River

We offer full-day float trips on the Yellowstone River from mid-spring through fall. Its wide channels and long riffles are ideal for floating in specially designed drift boats whiche enables us to cover a lot of water and access remote sections. Wading opportunities are available throughout the day, especially during spring and fall when water levels are lower.

  • Float the Yellowstone River between Gardiner and Big Timber. This stretch offers classic riffle-run-pool structure and a mix of rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout. The scenery shifts from pine-covered slopes to open pasture lands, all backed by the towering Absaroka, Gallatin, and Beartooth mountain ranges.
