The Yellowstone River, the longest free-flowing river in the lower 48, offers one of the most dynamic fly fishing experiences in Montana. From the upper river sections near Yellowstone National Park to the expansive valleys east of Livingston, the river delivers a true Montana fly fishing experience—diverse character, reliable hatches, and wild trout.
We offer full-day float trips on the Yellowstone River from mid-spring through fall. Its wide channels and long riffles are ideal for floating in specially designed drift boats whiche enables us to cover a lot of water and access remote sections. Wading opportunities are available throughout the day, especially during spring and fall when water levels are lower.
Our full-day guided fly fishing trips on the Yellowstone typically last 6 to 8 hours. During the day, we’ll float 8–12 miles of water focusing on the best sections as conditions change throughout the season. Guides handle everything from tying knots, choosing flies, and netting fish while safely maneuvering this wild river on the oars.
- Use of rods, reels, flies, and all necessary terminal tackle
- Lunches, snacks, and drinks
- Transportation to and from the river
You’re welcome to bring your own gear, but our guides are happy to supply setups that are matched to current water conditions and hatches.
Fishing licenses are available for purchase online or at most local sporting goods retailers. Gratuities are appreciated and paid directly to the guide at your discretion.
