Flows have stabilized for the time being and the river has gone from brown to green - you can get some fish in the soft water seams with rubberlegs, San Juan Worms, and lightning bugs. The best fishing is going to be in the Gallatin Canyon stretches above Gallatin Gateway and below Big Sky for the time being. These days can be really good out there as the higher flows keep a lot folks away from the river and many don't realize that it will have cleared up for a few days.

The Gallatin River starts small in YNP and becomes a medium-sized western river below Big Sky, Montana. It flows through Gallatin Canyon with swift pockets and fast runs. The river is known for its clean, cold water and offers over 75 miles of blue-ribbon trout water accessible at turnouts along HWY 191 and throughout the Gallatin Valley. The Gallatin River joins the Jefferson and Madison Rivers to form the Missouri River near Three Forks, Montana.
