Depuy's Spring Creek

Current Conditions

DePuy’s Spring Creek is fishing fair to good and remains a technical but consistent winter option. The creek stays clear and stable this time of year, but fish are selective and not moving far for food.

Midday has been the best window. Mornings are slow until the sun gets on the water and temperatures come up slightly. On calmer days, the fishing improves noticeably.

Nymphing has produced the most consistent results. Small sow bugs, scuds, and zebra midges have been working well. Tiny baetis nymphs and perdigons have also been effective when fished under a light indicator or on a tight line. Depth and presentation matter more here than adding weight. Keep drifts natural and avoid too much split shot.

There have been baetis and midge hatches on the right days. Cloud cover has helped. When fish are up, they’ve been holding in slower slicks and feeding steadily, but the eats are subtle. Small baetis dries, midge clusters, and simple emergers have been the better choice.

Overall, DePuy’s is a good option if you’re willing to fish carefully and match what’s happening. Expect technical fishing and lighter setups, with your best opportunity during the warmest part of the day.
