Depuy's Spring Creek

Current Conditions

DePuy’s Spring Creek is in excellent shape as we move into late July. The water is clear, cold, and steady, with temperatures holding in the low 50s, ideal conditions for both the fish and the hatches.

PMD's are the main event most days, with fish feeding selectively on emergers and spinners during mid-morning and late evening windows. When conditions are calm, we have been seeing fish rising in the slower seams and slicks, rewarding anglers who can deliver a clean drift on light tippet.

Midges continue to be a consistent factor early and late in the day. Terrestrials are starting to make a difference too. Ants and beetles are getting some attention, especially on sunny afternoons. Hopper season is just around the corner.

Nymphing remains productive when fish aren’t looking up. Small sowbugs, midges, and mayfly patterns presented with stealth and subtlety are turning fish in deeper slots and undercut banks.

Anglers should hit the water with a variety of PMD imitations. Patterns like the CDC PMD Spinner, PMD sparkle dun, and PMD comparadun are best fished on leaders 10–12-foot tapered leaders of 5x or 6x.

Crowds have been moderate, and the creek is fishing well throughout the day. It is classic spring creek angling, technical and rewarding. Anglers who take their time, move carefully, and read the water are seeing the most results.

Depuy’s Spring Creek has a rod fee of $120 through July 31.
