Bozeman Mt Fly Fishing Guide Trips

Full Day - $695 For 1 or 2 Guests

Fins and Feathers Guide Service has been outfitting Bozeman MT guided fly fishing trips for over 25 years. We have access to hundreds of miles of legendary wild trout water from our central base of operation in Bozeman.

Bozeman Fly Fishing Home Waters

Rivers like the Yellowstone, Madison, Gallatin, Jefferson, Missouri, Beaverhead, and Big Hole are our home waters and easy day trips out of town. Local spring creeks, smaller rivers, and regional reservoirs round out our assortment of world-class fly-fishing destinations near Bozeman.

Float Trip Descriptions

The best fly fishing in Montana is experienced while floating and fishing along the big and mid-sized rivers. This option enables anglers to cover a lot more water than possible on foot while also getting away from crowded access points where wade anglers tend to congregate.

New fly anglers appreciate the benefits of floating as casting, line management, and landing fish are all simplified while floating. Experienced anglers can cover much more water and effectively fly fishing using a more diverse array of tactics from the boat versus wading.

We cover 8-12 miles of a river section from purpose-built drift boats or rafts designed specifically for fly fishing western waters. They comfortably accommodate up two guests, the guide, a cooler, and all the necessary gear for a day trip. Padded seats, standing braces (for those that prefer to fish while standing versus sitting), and plenty of legroom make for a comfortable and stable day on the water.

Wade fishing is always an option during the day on float trips as our guides stop often to work a particular piece of water or to target rising trout. Wade-only trips, conversely tend to wear most anglers out after a couple of hours walking around on rocky river bottoms filled with odd sized rocks and boulders. Float trips with a bit of wading are a great option for anglers that are unsure of which method they would prefer.

The guide spends the day coaching our guests on ways to improve their fly fishing skills from start to finish. This might include a comprehensive casting lesson in the morning or just a few reminders to “mend the line” throughout the day – we adjust our tactics based on the guests’ skills and interest. Whether it’s helping with landing a fish or fly placement, the guides keep it all flowing seamlessly while safely rowing the boat downstream along these incredible rivers.

Bozeman Fly Fishing Trip Inclusions

Each full day, guided trip is priced the same $695 whether there is one or two guests per guide in your group. We do not offer any trip options where we put 3 guests with 1 guide.

Sample Group Size Pricing:

  • One angler - $695 with one guide
  • Two anglers - $695 with one guide
  • Three anglers - $1390 with two guides
  • Four anglers - $1390 with two guides
  • Five anglers - $2085 with three guides

Trips include complimentary use of gear like rods, reels, waders, and boots. We rarely wear waders and boots between May and October – sandals or water shoes are more comfortable and appropriate during the summer season.

Non-Inclusions

We recommend that guests bring an assortment of personal gear like sunglasses, hats, raingear, jackets, and gloves as suggested in our packing list.

Fishing licenses are not included in the price of the trip and vary depending on a variety of factors such as residency, age, veteran status, and the number of fishing days. These are purchased online by the guests following the instructions we include in our confirmation emails.

Finally, gratuities are not included in the price of the guide trip. The recommended amount is $150-$200 total per guide, per day. Gratuities are typically paid directly to the guide at the end of the trip using cash or Venmo.
