Th river has had some color to it the past week thanks to some heavy rains throughout the region. It's currently green and fishing well as of the last few days. The lower sections through Yellowstone and east have been our areas of focus as these sections have some nice riffles and faster seams which hold more feeding fish during the warmer days of summer. We have a hot week ahead of us which should translate to more hopper fishing and better fishing, earlier in the day. Nocturnal stones are out as well, so it never hurts to try twitching your hopper pattern across the water surface as well. Nymphing with a Pat's Rubberleg and small Pheasant Tail variation has been productive as well - stick to the faster water and you can generally find more trout than whitefish. We saw some nice fish on streamers last week, early in the day as well. It's worth checking the webcams the day before you head over there this time of year with the afternoon thundershower activity we have been seeing.

We offer Yellowstone River guided fly-fishing trips throughout the year and float the river from the top of Paradise Valley, all the way to Columbus, Montana at different times of the year. You can book with us online or through e-mail.

The Yellowstone River can go off-color quite quickly during the summer months following heavy rains in Yellowstone National Park and Paradise Valley. You can check current water clarity through handful of webcams in the are, here is a link to one that we check regularly.
