Jefferson River Fishing Trips
The Jefferson River is one of the larger rivers in Montana, located near Bozeman. It offers excellent fly fishing experiences for skilled anglers. While the trout populations are lower compared to other rivers like the Madison or Yellowstone, the angling pressure is far less as well.
Floating the Jefferson River during the early or late season offers solitude on the stretches between Whitehall and Headwaters State Park. Although the trout numbers are relatively low, every day on the river presents opportunities to catch trophy-sized Montana Trout.
With over two decades of experience in outfitting Jefferson River fishing trips, we only recommend these day trips to anglers with prior fly-fishing experience when the water conditions are ideal.

How Long is the Trip
Day trips are 6-8 hours, with 5-7 hours on the water. Drive time is 30-90 minutes each way from Bozeman, guests usually ride with their guide. Trip durations can be customized to fit your schedule. Ideal for anglers with prior fly fishing experience.

Fins and Feathers has been guiding Montana fly fishing trips for over 20 years, we primarily float the Jefferson River downstream of Whitehall as these stretches are relatively close to Bozeman and offer solitude and big fish opportunities.

What is Included
Rates include a streamside lunch, non-alcoholic beverages, flies, terminal tackle, and use of fly rod outfits for one or two guests. Waders and boots are provided if necessary. Fishing licenses and gratuities are not included.
