Bighorn River Fishing on Guided Trips

The crew at Fins and Feathers Guide Service has been guiding anglers fishing the Bighorn River in Montana for over two decades. Ft. Smith excursions have long been popular "side-trips" with our long-term customers who join our Bozeman fly fishing guides for a week-long Montana fly fishing tour.

Our Montana fishing guides are available with 3-day minimum bookings when reservations are placed well in advance. March, April, and August are our preferred months to guide Bighorn River fishing trips with anglers who have intermediate to advanced fly fishing skills.

Bighorn River trips can be booked, online, via e-mail, or by calling us at 1-406-468-5019.

Great People, Great Service, and Great Guide

"Prior to our trip we researched best guided fishing near Bozeman MT and Finns and Feathers was the most highly rated! They lived up to their reputation, both in the shop and on the water. Our guide, Nicole, was knowledgeable, great company and, most importantly, put us in the places there were FISH!..."

Anglers fishing success on the Bighorn River with a stunning Montana Brown Trout

Bighorn River Fishing Report

The Bighorn River is a wild trout tailwater fishery in southern Montana on the Crow Indian Reservation near Ft. Smith, Montana. Angler access is managed by the National Park Service and Montana, Fish, Wildlife and Parks in cooperation with the Crow Indians.

This world-renowned Montana fishing destination is known for producing large populations of mid-sized Brown and Rainbow Trout with large specimens exceeding 24".

The river is rich in biomass but lacks diversity in terms of the aquatic insects that thrive in this water. There is a steady presence of freshwater Crustaceans (sowbugs and scuds), Annelids (aquatic worms), and Midges.
